BCBSWY Adopts Preferred Drug Policy
Beginning January 1, 2025, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming (BCBSWY) will include preferred drugs in some medical policies.
This means providers must prescribe drugs listed as “preferred” to ensure members will be covered when requesting prior authorization.
- Impacted prescriptions will be grandfathered until a new prior authorization is requested.
- If a drug is “preferred,” it will be noted at the top of the relevant medical policy. View our Pharmacy Guide for Providers.
- Providers may contact Provider Relations if the preferred drug cannot be acquired.
Claims Coding Update
BCBSWY now permits the usage of modifiers CO (Occupational Therapy Assistant) or CQ (Physical Therapy Assistant).
